LIMS rules in Forensic laboratories too

Latest issues of Scientific Computing World features story on How LIMS bring order to forensic sciences. Greg Blackman reports on the importance of LIMS in forensic laboratories particularly about automation and data management. Citing an example from of Brazilian TAM Airlines Flight 3054 crash which claimed the lives of all 189 people on board along with 10 employees working in the TAM Airlines building that it collided with, Blackman explained how LIMS installation helped in tracking the identity of victims through DNA fingerprints comparison, i.e. comparisons of DNA recovered from the wreckage with that from relatives of the victims. Implementation of LIMS in forensic setup not only helps to maintain the high quality standards but also supports functionality that compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements and accreditation audits.
